Special Buddha Pooja
On Saturday 11 the February 2011, another memorable Multicultural Festival was held in the City and the ASLBA concluded another successful multicultural food fair (MCF).
As many of you know, it takes literally months and months of preparation to stage an event like the multicultural food fair. Starting from the efforts of Dr Lyn Liyanage, under the guidance of Ven. Upali, at seeking advance contributions and ending from the cleaning and storing away of all the paraphernalia, the MCF is the single most significant fundraising event of the ASLBA.
This year, the MCF was staged under a set of very testing circumstances. Not the least of these was the quite undesirable location of the stalls that we had to contend with. Further, as most of you’d recall, the weather forecast was not the most favourable either. The valiant souls of the ASLBA and their trusty volunteers soldiered on regardless. As it turned out even Mother Nature bestowed her blessings in the form of a cool breeze on many the volunteers who worked hard against the odds to make this food fair a success. Happily, they carried on, be it labouring away in the kitchen, conveying prepared food to the stalls, cooking, frying and serving foods and collecting money from the customers. To their credit, all our fund-raising expectations were met, if not exceeded.
So we say to our dear friends and well-wishers, even if you lifted a finger to help the ASLBA towards the staging of its multicultural food fair, then these heartfelt thanks come your way.
So thank you all and may you be peaceful and happy!
This year under the special guidance of our resident Bhanthes, a special Buddha Pooja will be held on Saturday 3 March 2012 at 6.00 pm, at the Vihara at No 30, Jenke Circuit, Kambah to bless all those who helped in making this event a success.
All are welcome.
Light refreshments will be served.
