Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara conducts a comprehensive program of activity and events every year to the benefit of the Buddhist community of the ACT and the region. Given below is the Annual Program, religious observances and other major events for the year 2013.
Poya Days And Sil Program For The Year 2013
The Sri Lanka Temple in Kambah conduct regular Monthly Atta Sill (Eight Precepts) Program from 8.00 am to 3.30 pm. Normally a shared common Dhana at the temple is arranged at 11.00 am.

Dhamma & Sinhala Language School Program
The school provide a great opportunity to learn Sinhala Language and Buddhism. The school also make opportunity to learn, understand and practice the Sri Lankan culture and improve a wide range of skills including leadership, communication and various social skills. The classes are held on Saturdays. Parent-Teacher meetings are planned to be held, early in each term (dates to be advised). The time table and terms for year 2013 are as follows:
Observe Pansil & Preparatory work : 2.30 to 3.00 pm
Buddhism class: 3:00 - 4:00 pm
Interval: 4:00 - 4:30 pm
Sinhala Language class: 4:30 - 5:30 pm
1st term - 16 Feb to 12 April 2013
2nd Term - 29 April to 05 July 2013
3rd Term - 22 July to 27 September 2013
4th Term - 14 October to 20 December 2013
News Letter “Thisarana” and School News Letter “Lama Kalaba”
Thisarana, the news letter of the association is published quarterly and the Dhamma and Sinhala Language school magazine Lamakalaba is issued once a year prior to the School Annual Concert.
Weekly Meditation Program
A regular meditation class (Vipassana Meditation) is conducted in English/Sinhala at the temple on every Fridays and Sundays as follows:
Fridays From 7.30 pm 7.30 pm
Sundays From 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm
The classes are conducted by Dr Lalith Ranatunga.
Monthly Mahamewna Meditation Program
A monthly meditation and a Sutta Desana will be held on First Sunday of each month by a visiting monk from the Mahamewna Meditation Centre in Sydney from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
Monthly Dhamma Talk
A monthly Dhamma talk will be held on Saturdays (Refer Poya Calender) to coincide with Poya Day on Saturdays from 6.00pm to 7.00 pm.
Weekly Dhamma Talk On Mondays By Ven Sudamma Thera
Ven Sudamma Thera will be conducting Sutta Damma Desana (in Sinhala) on every Monday from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm.
Weekly Meditation Program On Sundays
Ven Visuddi Chitta Thera will be conducting meditation program in English every Sunday from 5.00 pm to 6.00pm.
Visiting Monks
Time to time there will be visiting monk from overseas and inter-state and ASLBA organises special Dhamma talks.
Daily Gilanpasa Pooja
Please note that daily “Gilanpasa Poojawa” is held at 7.00 pm. You are welcome to participate in this meritorious activity.
